Picking up over 15 years after the end of the movie, the project follows the cunning Kathryn Merteuil (Sarah Michelle Gellar has been approached to reprise the role) as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey, the son of her late brother Sebastian Valmont and Annette Hargrove. Upon discovering his late father’s legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined.

Smith, who currently can be seen on American Crime Season 2 as Luke, will play Bash, our sister site Deadline reports. Additionally, Samantha Logan (The Fosters, Teen Wolf) has been cast as Cassidy, the spoiled daughter of Kathryn’s husband Pascal.
