Season two introduces the viewers to the growing marital troubles between Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip when the former accuses the latter of having an affair behind her back after discovering a photo of a Russian Ballerina in his briefcase. Princess Margaret becomes the subject of a scandal after her scantily clad photographs are sent by the society photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones to a newspaper. However, both Antony and Margaret begin an affair and get married with the Queen’s blessing. The season features what can be considered as one of the biggest royal scandals, which is the reveal of The Marburg Files that confirmed the Queen’s uncle, Edward VIII, to be a Nazi sympathizer. On the other hand, we see the visit of President John F. Kennedy and The First Lady Jacqueline’s visit to Buckingham Palace ensuing a somewhat less amiable first encounter between the latter and the Queen. Overall, the season was a huge success and received enormous popularity making it one of the biggest entries of the series.

Claire Foy plays Queen Elizabeth II. Other cast members include Matt Smith, Vanessa Kirby, Helena Bonham Carter, Victoria Hamilton, Ben Miles, Greg Wise, and Jeremy Northam, to name a few.
