Hundreds of people flocked to the the passport office in Kabul, Afghanistan, as it opened for the first time since the Taliban takeover on October 6, Radio Azadi reported.

A spokesman for the Taliban announced on October 4 that the issuance of identity cards and passports would resume.

Female and male staff at the department would work in segregated offices, Alam Gul Haqqani, the head of the passport office, said, according to Radio Azadi.

This footage was published by local media organization Asvaka News Agency. They described it as showing crowds outside the passport office in Kabul. Those applying for passports were concerned that “passports with the title of Islamic Emirates wouldn’t be acceptable worldwide until their government is legitimized,” they said.
