Critics Choice Movie Awards nominations reactions: What fans are saying

As this year’s hundreds of Critics Choice Movie Award-nominated creatives have spent the day celebrating their achievements, our forum posters (many of whom are Hollywood insiders hiding behind clever usernames) have unleashed their brutally honest opinions on the roster. In this case, their comments were much more reproachful than rapturous, with many criticizing the abundance of “Barbie” love as well as the exclusion of European productions “Anatomy of a Fall” and “The Zone of Interest.”

Below is just a sampling of their cheers and jeers regarding this year’s CCA film nominees. Take a look, then jump into the discussion if you’re brave enough.

Best Picture
Victor: Basic as always. Where are the non-English movies?

Atypical: No “Anatomy of a Fall” OR “The Zone of Interest” in Best Picture is glaringly short-sighted. Garbage.

Archie Leach: What even are these noms??? They should just change the name to American Critics Choice Awards!

evilstyless: I never thought I’d say this, but the Golden Globe nominations were much better.

Best Actor
FreemanGriffin: Barry Keoghan ought to have been nominated.

laslo: I’m rooting for Cillian Murphy, but I have the feeling that we’re heading towards some very mediocre wins.

Best Actress
FreemanGriffin: Annette Bening deserves to be on this list. She really is phenomenal in “Nyad”! Here’s hoping SAG and/or BAFTA does a better job.

Best Supporting Actor
Atypical: Sterling K. Brown’s inclusion is interesting.

Best Supporting Actress
ejaru1810: America Ferrera shouldn’t be there.

kamila: I would’ve liked to see Erika Alexander.

DSmovies: What’s the point of “Saltburn” in Best Picture without Rosamund Pike nominated?

JV: They clearly loved “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.” but not enough to nominate the most acclaimed aspect of the movie (Rachel McAdams).

Best Young Actor/Actress
rainstorm: I’m really excited about Milo Machado Graner being nominated. His performance in “Anatomy of a Fall” was so good.

Best Cinematography
abelfenty: “Barbie” getting a cinematography nomination is disgusting and ridiculous.

Best Animated Feature
tiermakeracco17: After saying “Elemental” and “Wish” sucked, critics nominate them. How does this make sense?
