A 48-year-old Georgia woman has been missing since Friday, and police have made an arrest during their investigation of the case on unrelated charges.

On Friday, the family of Aimee Lafakis reported her missing, the Brookhaven, Ga., Police Department said in a statement on Saturday.

The last time anyone heard from Lafakis was around 2 a.m. on Friday, according to police.

WSB-TV and Atlanta News First, citing police, report that Brandon Wineinger was arrested during the investigation into the case, but his arrest is not directly related to Lafakis' disappearance.

The Brookhaven Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for information.

According to online jail records, Wineinger was arrested on Saturday at 10:46 a.m. and charged with allegedly tampering with evidence, kidnapping, false statements or writings – conceal facts or fraudulent documents in matters of government; and first-degree burglary.

Police said they arrested Wineinger after interviewing multiple family members and other people close to Lafakis, according to Atlanta News First.

It is unclear whether he has retained an attorney who can speak on his behalf.

Authorities have not said if there was any connection between Lafakis and Wineinger.

On Saturday, police issued a “critical missing” notice for Lafakis.

In the notice, she is described as being 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 110 lbs. She has black hair, green eyes, several tattoos including cats on her left forearm, a heart on her right ring finger and a heart on the back of her neck.

As police investigate, Lafakis’ family remains worried about her welfare.

“The main thing is finding Aimee, just where she is,” Doug Adams, Lafakis’ ex-husband, said, Atlanta News First reports.

Anyone with information about the investigation is urged to contact the Brookhaven Police Department at 404-637-0636 or Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-TIPS.
