The cringeworthy thing Emilia Clarke did when she met Prince William
On Late Night With Seth Meyers, Emilia Clarke discussed going to Kensington Palace to meet Prince William and the embarrassing thing that happened.
In an interview with Meyers on Tuesday night, when the host asked Clarke about meeting Prince Harry’s older brother, she responded, “It was good.” She then cringed as she considered how she actually felt about it. “So, it’s kind of a frightening thing, going to the palace — there’s a whole thing,” Clarke said. The actress repeated the many instructions she was given: “You can’t turn your back”; “You need to address him first as ‘Your Royal Highness'”; and “After that, you can say, ‘Prince William.'” Clarke explained that when the big moment came, she froze. “For whatever reason, probably because I was so scared, I couldn’t manage to get out ‘Your Royal Highness,'” Clarke said. She then imitated the mumbling that came out of her mouth as she attempted to speak to the prince.
