‘Criminal Minds: Evolution’ Ups Ryan-James Hatanaka To Series Regular For Upcoming Season

EXCLUSIVE: We’ll be seeing more of Tyler Green in the upcoming season of Criminal Minds: Evolution. Ryan-James Hatanaka, who heavily recurred as the character last season has been promoted to series regular for Season 2 of the Paramount+ series, which is currently in production.

Hatanaka’s Tyler Green is a former army intelligence officer who infiltrated the serial killer network created by Elias Voit (Zach Gilford). This season, the BAU recruits Tyler as a consultant, utilizing his psychological operations training on their latest season-long investigation.

Green joins cast members Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez, Paget Brewster and Gilford.

Criminal Minds: Evolution is produced by ABC Signature and CBS Studios. Erica Messer serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Breen Frazier, Chris Barbour, Glenn Kershaw and Mark Gordon also executive producing.

Evolution‘s second season is set to premiere this year.

Previously, Hatanaka was a regular on Hallmark’s When Hope Calls. He was a lead in the independent film I Can I Will I Did and voiced Joseph Pulitzer Jr. in Oren Rudavsky’s documentary Pulitzer: Voice of the People. He can also be seen in Chicago PD and MTV’s Eye Candy, and received critical praise for his role as Dr. Evan Wallace in NBC’s Nurses. He is repped by Gersh, Play Management, and manager Geordie Frey.
