Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov in an interview with NV reported that Russia is keeping a very careful guard on the Crimean bridge.

“They have military exercises almost every day,” said Danilov. “The amount of air defense they have put in to protect this facility is simply insane. This suggests that they are quite seriously (worried) about the weapons that our troops have.”
After a series of explosions occurred at Russian military facilities on the occupied Ukrainian peninsula, media and military experts began to speculate on the likelihood of Ukraine next striking at the Crimean bridge.

Suspected Ukrainian attacks on Russian-occupied Crimea started on Aug. 9, when several explosions ripped through a military airfield at Novofedorivka, near Saky in western Crimea. As a result of that attack, around a dozen Russian aircraft were thought to have been destroyed.
Russia said the explosion at the base had been an “accident,” but video from the scene and subsequent satellite imagery indicate that the attack was most probably carried out with high-precision rockets or missiles.

A week later, on Aug. 16, there were more explosions in Russian-occupied Crimea: a Russian military unit and an ammunition depot were on set fire near the village of Azovskoye, Dzhankoy district, and a fire broke out at a transformer station in Dzhankoy itself.
Explosions also occurred at a military air base in the village of Gvardeyskoye, Simferopol region.

Ukraine has not officially announced its involvement in the explosions in Crimea. However, Western media, citing unnamed Ukrainian officials, have reported that the explosions were the work of an elite Ukrainian special operations unit.
