Creed frontman Scott Stapp and wife Jaclyn to divorce after 18 years of marriage

The "With Arms Wide Open" singer and model share three children together.

Creed frontman Scott Stapp and his wife Jaclyn are officially going their separate ways.

The model, 43, is divorcing the “With Arms Wide Open” singer, 50, after 18 years of marriage, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed. The decision comes after they each filed for divorce within the past two years: Jaclyn in June 2022, with a request that she later withdrew, and Scott in May 2023, according to Tennessee court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

"After much prayer and consideration, Jaclyn has chosen to end her 18-year marriage with Scott," her representative said in a statement. "It's been a long battle, and while this isn't the future she envisioned, she wishes him the best. The welfare of their children will always be her utmost concern, and she kindly asks for privacy during this personal time."

Representatives for Scott did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment. However, one of his representatives told PEOPLE that “out of respect for their family, Scott intends to navigate this difficult time privately.”

The couple, who tied the knot on Feb. 11, 2006, met at a Muscular Dystrophy Association gala in New York. They share three children: Milan, 17; Daniel, 13; and Anthony, 6. Scott also shares son his Jagger, 25, with his ex-wife Hillaree Burns.  
In March, the rocker told PEOPLE in an interview that he’d "never had a family like this” before Jaclyn and their children.

“They’ve really demonstrated to me what a family is all about, and having each other’s back and sticking together,” he said at the time. “I’ve got to see what a real family is in action, and hopefully we’ll be able to carry that forward no matter how the story unfolds.”

He also said he considered “each season” of his marriage to be a “learning experience,” adding, “You have to look back at it as such, no matter what, and you have to reframe it. Reframing it — no matter what the circumstance is — precipitates growth and helps you become a better human being and a better partner."

TMZ was the first to report the news of Scott and Jaclyn’s divorce.
