Creature from the Black Lagoon Icon Julie Adams Dies at 92
Iconic horror movie actress Julie Adams, who starred as Kay Lawrence in Creature from the Black Lagoon, has died. She was 92.
Adams died early Sunday morning in Los Angeles, her son Mitchell Danton confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
She rose to fame as the woman who wore a white, one-piece bathing suit to take a dip in a lagoon in the 1954 film as the Gill-man beneath copied her every movie. The scene was often recreated in movies like Jaws and The Shape of Water.

According to Adams’ website, while the actress will certainly live on in horror canon, she also made substantial contributions to the Western movie genre over her lifetime and worked with many big names, including Jimmy Stewart, Rock Hudson, Charlton Heston, Elvis Presley, John Wayne and more.
Some of her more memorable titles include, Tickle Me (1965); The Last Movie (1971); McQ (1974); The Underwater City (1962); The Killer Inside Me (1976); The Fifth Floor (1978); Champions (1984); and Catchfire(1990).

She was married to actor and director Ray Danton from 1954 to 1981. Afterward, she dated film and TV writer Ronald M. Cohen until he died in 1998, according to Deadline.
Adams is survived by her two sons, Steve and Michael Danton, and her four grandchildren.
