Sam Richardson and Judith Light took home this year’s guest actor and actress in a comedy series, respectively, at Saturday night’s Creative Arts Emmys.

Richardson, winning for his work on Ted Lasso, was nominated against Jon Bernthal (The Bear), Luke Kirby (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Nathan Lane (Only Murders in the Building), Pedro Pascal (Saturday Night Live) and Oliver Platt (The Bear).

Judith Light, recognized for Poker Face, beat out Becky Ann Baker (Ted Lasso), Quinta Brunson (Saturday Night Live), Taraji P. Henson (Abbott Elementary), Sarah Niles (Ted Lasso) and Harriet Walter (Ted Lasso).

Richardson, who accepted the award from presenters Murray Bartlett and Nick Offerman, joked he “really didn’t think he was going to win this” and proceeded to take a speech out of his pocket to laughs from the audience, thanking his team, his family, Tim Robinson and the Detroit Lions. The win marks Richardson’s first Emmy, having been previously nominated in 2022 for his Ted Lasso role.

Light, accepting from presenters Lewis Pullman and Aja Naomi King, joked, “What a way to start a new year!” She shouted out Poker Face‘s Rian Johnson and Natasha Lyonne, and noted, “Last year was a very challenging year for our community,” thanking her team and toasting her fellow nominees. The Emmy is Light’s first after five nominations, and also marks the first Emmy win for Peacock.

The two-day Creative Arts ceremony, which was delayed from September to January following the writers and actors strikes, is handing out nearly 100 (mostly technical) TV awards ahead of the televised Primetime Emmys broadcast on Jan. 15. An edited presentation of the Creative Arts Emmys will air Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FXX.
