‘Crashing’ Renewed for Season 2 by HBO
There’s more Crashing on the way — HBO has renewed the comedy for a second season.
Inspired by creator Pete Holmes’ life, the Judd Apatow-executive produced series follows Pete (Holmes), a young comic who thrusts himself into the New York City comedy scene after finding out his wife (Lauren Lapkus), his childhood sweetheart, cheated on him. The show’s title comes from the fact that Pete starts crashing with stand-up comedians who play themselves, like T.J. Miller and Artie Lang, after his divorce.
“Pete and Judd have proven to be the ultimate ambassadors for the stand-up comedy world,” said HBO Programming executive vice president Amy Gravitt in a press release. “I’m delighted by the response to the show and am thrilled to welcome them back for a second season.”
The show is currently in the middle of its eight-episode first season, which has also featured guest appearances from Sarah Silverman, Hannibal Burress, Rachael Ray, Jim Norton, and Dave Attell. Given the number of comedians who guest-starred in the first season, Apatow decided to direct a couple of the episodes, marking the first time he’s directed a TV comedy since Undeclared in the early 2000s.
Crashing airs Sundays at 10:30 p.m. on HBO.
