A Cranston man was on 'Jeopardy!' Here's how he did

It wasn't a victory for Cranston resident Dan Meuse in his 'Jeopardy!' appearance on Thursday night, but it was a good time.

"What is ... one of the craziest experiences I could imagine?" Meuse Tweeted, teasing the airing of the episode. "It was an amazing time."

Meuse, who lives in Rhode Island but is a lecturer in public affairs and the deputy director of State Health and Value Strategies at Princeton University, made a small nod to the Ocean State on the show. He wore two lapel pins representing his kids' schools: La Salle Academy and Providence Country Day School.

Meuse has a solid performance on the show, getting 21 questions right and only one wrong in the first two rounds of the game show. Even so, he was trailing behind front runner Ben Goldstein, who was on a four-game streak going into Final Jeopardy.

Both Goldstein and Meuse missed the final clue, which was, "In 1823 he wrote, 'in the war between those new governments and Spain we declared our neutrality.'"

Only contestant Andrea Rednick Granados had the right answer: who is Monroe?

But, she didn't bet big enough to win. Meuse, who wagered $0, ended at $12,000. And Goldstein, who clearly considered Meuse's score in his wager, ended at $12,005, after losing $3,195.

It was a $5 loss for Meuse. Goldstein advances with a five-day streak, and a new record for the lowest five-day total of all time at $49,298, according to fansite The Jeopardy! Fan.

Meuse won $2,000 in prize money.
