The Cranberries release statement mourning Dolores O'Riordan after officials reveal her cause of death
Nearly eight months after singer Dolores O’Riordan’s body was found in the bathtub of her London hotel room, officials have determined her cause of death.
A coroner concluded Thursday that the 46-year-old Cranberries frontwoman’s death — recorded as drowning due to alcohol intoxication — was accidental. The ruling should put to rest speculation that has surrounded the Irish star’s untimely death on Jan. 15.
O’Riordan’s grieving bandmates — famous for ’90s hits like “Zombie” and “Linger” — have posted a statement in response to the coroner’s report. Their message sends “heartfelt condolences” to their late bandmate’s family and asks for privacy as they “struggle to come to terms with what happened.”

After disbanding in 2003, O’Riordan reunited with her bandmates — Fergal Lawler and brothers Mike and Noel Hogan — in 2009. She was in London for a recording session at the time of her death.
When O’Riordan died in January, Lawler and the Hogans wrote in a tweet that they were “devastated.”
We are devastated on the passing of our friend Dolores. She was an extraordinary talent and we feel very privileged to have been part of her life from 1989 when we started the Cranberries. The world has lost a true artist today.
