Craig Ferguson Price Chops Hollywood Hills Compound

After his multi-residence compound in the lower Bronson Canyon area of the Hollywood Hills sat for three months on the open market, actor, author, comedian, producer and former late-night chat-show host Craig Ferguson has already twice cut the asking price. The $4.7 million pricetag is still well above the $4.1 million the Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning showbusiness hyphenate coughed up for the double-gated Craftsman-style compound just over three years ago, but it’s also $800,000 less than its quixotic original pricetag of just under $5.5 million.

The fully updated main residence dates to the early 1900s, per listing details, and measures in at about 4,100 square feet, with fireplaced living room, open-concept kitchen and family room, four bedrooms, and 4.5 bathrooms. The privately positioned property also offers a small stand-alone library, plus a pair of self-contained guest houses, one with a double-height living room and loft bedroom. At just two-thirds of an acre, the hillside spread manages to squeeze in a serpentine driveway and ample parking, a variety of multilevel decks and terraces with city lights and canyon views, a gym, and a resort-style swimming pool and spa backed by a couple of tented cabanas.

Scottish-born Ferguson, now a naturalized American citizen and currently employed as the host of the syndicated, pop culture-centric “Celebrity Name Game” game show, shelled out $5.6 million for a dated but well-maintained oceanfront residence on a coveted, guard-gated street in Malibu last year, and back in May 2013, he sold a 1930s Mediterranean villa in the historic Beachwood Canyon area of the Hollywood Hills for $1.74 million to comedian-sitcom actor Chris D’Elia.
