Crafts in Yardley, parading pets in Quakertown, cruising with K9s: Bucks County fall fests

Fall is just around the corner, and so are Bucks County's fall festivals celebrating the season, community and the arts.

Whether on the hunt for seasonal favorites or just some time out and fun in the cooler temperatures, the fall events in Buck County offer something up for everyone. Here's a look of when and where to get your fall feels on:

Join in the Scarecrow Festival at Peddler's Village

Want to win $300 and have some frightfully good fun doing it?

Enter this year's Scarecrow Competition at Peddler's Village, one of the many autumn activities planned in Bucks County to celebrate the harvest season. There are seven categories including a "Pink Out" and another just for children. Visitors to the village can judge the entries which will line its pathways as they have each fall for more than 40 years. Entries will be judged Oct. 13 and on display through Oct. 29.

Bolton Mansion’s Fall Festival

On Sept. 16, the Historic Bolton Mansion hosts its fall festival. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The mansion will have food trucks, a beer garden, crafters and other vendors, bounce houses, princess makeovers, a Revolutionary War encampment, and more.

The Historic Bolton Mansion is located at 85 Holly Drive in Levittown.

Fall Food Truck & Music Fest in Warminster

On Saturday, Sept. 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Warminster Community Park, 350 East Bristol Road, the event will feature 11 different food trucks selling delicious foods, desserts and sweet treats. There will be crafters, vendors, children’s activities, the country band Y’All Or Nothing, the Journey tribute band Highway Run, as well as sports cars from Sports Car Club of America and motorcycles from Blue Comet Motorcycle Club.

On Saturday, Sept. 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Warminster Community Park, 350 East Bristol Road, the event will feature 11 different food trucks selling delicious foods, desserts and sweet treats. Admission is free and proceeds from the event will benefit Warminster’s Ben Wilson Senior Activity Center, a 501(c)3 serving older adults in Warminster and the surrounding communities.

Kruisin’ with the K9s

The Warrington Township Police Department’s third annual Kruisin’ with K9s Car Show will take place on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 3-7 p.m. (rain date Sept. 17) at the Shops at Valley Square, 1501 Main Street, Warrington. The event will feature vintage, antique and custom cars, food, music, a moon bounce, a 50/50 drawing, a raffle and lots of K9s.

Police K9 units from Warrington and other local police departments will be on hand for K9 demonstrations. There will also be an opportunity to see police vehicles up close and meet Warrington Police Department K9s Jolie, Murphy and their K9 counterparts from the K9 units in attendance. Proceeds from the event benefit the Warrington Township K9 unit.

Kruisin’ with K9s is free for spectators.  For those who want to enter their car, the cost is $20 the day of the car show and there will be dashboard plaques given to the first 75 cars that sign up. More than 40 trophies will be awarded in a variety of categories.

NOVA Upstander Day

NOVA’s Upstander Day will take place on Sunday, Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dublin Fire Co., 194 N. Main Street.  This community event is free, will include family-friendly games, crafts, entertainment, food trucks and demonstrations by first responders.

Yardley Harvest Day

Visit Downtown from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 23, rain or shine, for Yardley Harvest Day. In addition to a wide variety of handmade crafts and artwork, great food, local and civic groups and businesses, there will be live music and entertainment. This year marks 55 years of Yardley Harvest Day.

Warrington Community Day

Warrington Day celebrates community and business on Sept. 23 (rain date Sunday, Sept. 24th) from noon – 5:30 p.m. with bounce houses, food, music, a rock wall, displays from Emergency Services, a fishing derby, and a K9 demonstration at John Paul Park at Lower Nike, 301 Folly Road. Starting at 6 p.m. the fun continues at Lions Pride Park, 3129 Bradley Road with live music played by the John Austin Band, food, and fireworks at dusk.

There is free parking at Upper Nike Park on Bradley Road and Folly Road, and a shuttle service from Lion’s Pride Park and John Paul Park at Lower Nike starting at 11:30 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m.

New Hope Arts & Craft Festival

Over 160 juried fine artists and craftsmen will exhibit their work Sept. 23 and 24 in the New Hope-Solebury High School parking lots using media such as oil paintings, watercolors, pastels, sculpture, fine and fun jewelry, ceramics, works in wood, fiber, furniture, wearable art, glass art, photography, outsider art, and more.

A free bus is available from the festival parking to South Main Street at the Bucks County Playhouse, where visitors can take in all of New Hope's shops and restaurants. Admission is $5. Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

Andalusia gala

Support the preservation and public programs of Andalusia Historic House, Gardens & Arboretum at The Andalusia Foundation’s annual Cabaret on the River 6:30 to 10 p.m. Sept. 30. The black-tie fundraiser includes an evening of cocktails, gourmet dining, and exciting musical entertainment by American jazz group The John Pizzarelli Trio.

The Andalusia Foundation’s mission is to care for the Historic House, its furnishings, surrounding gardens, and property to benefit scholars, students, and the general public. COST: $650 and up. Click here for ticket prices and sponsorship packages. 

Northampton Day

The Northampton Day Committee, Team Toyota and Gasper Garden Center present Northampton Day Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the former Richboro Middle School on Holland Road. There will be over 100 different vendors. There will also be free amusements and games for kids, live entertainment, and a chance to meet local first responders.

Perkasie Fall Fest

Perkasie Fall Fest is set for Oct.1 from noon to 4 p.m. at Town Center and Menlo Park.

Bensalem Family Fall Festival

Bensalem celebrates community pride with family entertainment, music, food trucks, beer garden and evening concert and fireworks on Oct. 7. The fun starts at 2:30 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. at the municipal complex on Byberry Road. There will be a petting zoo, mini golf, magic show, and a DJ. Concert is set for 6:15 p.m. followed by fireworks at 8:15 p.m.

Newtown Market Day

Market Day is Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Centre, Court and Mercer streets. The annual outdoor event celebrates the colonial tradition of local farmers and homesteaders bringing their crops, livestock, and homemade wares into town to sell to neighbors and townspeople, organizers say. "It is our proud tradition to feature high-quality crafters, artisans & fine artists; colonial-era demonstrations, reenactments & activities; farm stands; entertainment for all ages; and food from local restaurants," according to the website. The event supports the Newtown Historic Association. The rain date is Oct. 8.

Oktoberfest in Morrisville

Morrisville will celebrate Oktoberfest at Williamson Park October Fest from noon to 7 p.m. on Oct. 7. The day includes food trucks, craft vendors, music and pumpkin-pie and carved pumpkins contests.

Quakertown Borough Fall Festival

Enjoy a night filled with spooky games and tasty treats! A fun festival that runs Oct. 14 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Univest Performance Center at the Park at 4th, with various crafts and activities. Hayrides, scarecrow decorating contest, moon bounces, games, activities, sensory tent, costume contest, trunk or treat, and more.

Historic Fallsington Day

Come out to this free, annual, outdoor event in Fallsington off Tyburn Road on Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The day will feature folksingers, puppet shows, jugglers, colonial dancing, Native American dancing and culture, demonstrations of Colonial skills, and more on and around Yardley Avenue. Visit the entire village to purchase some homemade crafts made by local artisans, buy new & used books, tour the historic museum buildings and other places throughout the town, purchase a homemade treat or two, and more. Parking available at Fallsington Elementary School.

Historic Bristol Day

Come for a day of fun in this historic river town. The Oct. 21 event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. includes entertainment, historical tours, crafters and vendors, an amazing car show, a sailing regatta, an antique boat show, children's activities and a food court by the Delaware River.

The Schooner North Wind, a 75-foot vessel owned by Gloucester City Sail, returns and will provide public sails during the event. One-hour “Delaware River cruises” from the Bristol Wharf at 10:30 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. will be offered. Adults $20, children (under 10) $10. Autumn Alive! Fall Festival in Quakertown

Running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Oct. 21, the Autumn Alive! fall festival focuses on fun and furry friends. The Broad Street Pet Parade is always a family favorite. There is also going to be a cupcake baking competition. Along with crafters and businesses, pet rescue organizations will line Broad Street from 4th Street to Hellertown Avenue and down Branch Street. There will be plenty of family fun to enjoy children’s activities, live entertainment all day on two stages, food court, Authors Corner, and guests of age can enjoy samples of beer and wine in the beer garden.

Boo at Bolton: Food Truck Fest & Trick-or-Treat

The Historic Bolton Mansion is hosting an additional festival in the fall, but this one is making the mansion "haunted." On Oct. 21, guests are invited to come in their Halloween costumes and can enjoy balloon art, face painting, knockerball, also known as bubble soccer, a DJ, bubble foam pit, stuffed animal making, trick-or-treating, and a ghost-tour of the mansion with plenty of food and snacks available.

The activities are kid-friendly and runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 85 Holly Drive in Levittown.
