Did one Cowboy send Jerry Jones a message with anti-Trump song?
If there was some peace accord between Dallas Cowboys players and owner Jerry Jones on the growing national anthem controversy among the team, nobody was saying so Wednesday.
The players and Jones had a meeting. The players had an open locker room for reporters after the meeting, but according to media that covers the Cowboys, multiple players declined to comment on what was said. Jones said after Sunday’s game that anyone who demonstrated during the anthem would not play.
Maybe it’s reading into things too much but according to the Dallas Morning News, Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick walked out of the locker room listening to the YG and Nipsey Hussle song “FDT,” which is an acronym for a swear word and Donald Trump (you might not want to listen to that one at work).
Trump has praised Jones, who contributed to Trump’s inauguration. It hardly seemed like a random song choice, though the Morning News said Scandrick claimed he just liked the artists.
Scandrick gave seven “no comment” answers to questions about the meeting with Jones about the anthem, but did have a telling line when asked about breast cancer awareness around the NFL.
“We’re allowed to support this,” he said, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Other players declined to discuss the meeting including kicker Dan Bailey, the team’s union representative.
It’s hard to deny that it’s the type of distraction the Cowboys don’t really need. At least they have a bye week to let any bad feelings calm down.

The Cowboys will have a few days off during the bye, but the issue isn’t going away. Jones brought this upon himself and the team. It could be a very interesting Week 7 for the players and the owner.
Officials are scheduled to rule on what players can and can’t do during the national anthem on Oct. 17-18 at the annual fall owners meetings in New York. Union officials will also be in attendance, according to a joint statement by the NFL and NFLPA.
