Courtney Love Shares Emotional Tribute to Harry Brant: 'I Know That My Kurt Will Be There for You'

Following the news of Harry Brant's tragic death, one of his close confidants, Courtney Love, shared a moving and heartfelt tribute on Instagram.

The 24-year old model and socialite died of an accidental overdose of prescription medication on January 17, his parents, supermodel Stephanie Seymour and high profile businessman Peter Brant, confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE.

Love, 56, began her heartfelt note by saying Brant was like a son to her. "my heart is broke, in all truth I say, Harry, my love , you were too good for this world. The only child , other than my Frances Bean, I've ever loved so much," the singer wrote.

She went on to compare Brant to her late husband, Nirvana's Kurt Cobain, whom she was married to from 1992 until his death in 1994. "I know that my Kurt, another boy so much like you, so empathic, too beautiful to be here long, who saw the beauty in even the ugliest , will be there for you. I'm pretty sure he'll invite you to sit with him at lunch on eagle peak . And I'm pretty sure you'll show him how to order in French off the menu."

On April 5, 1994, Cobain died by suicide at his Seattle home after a lengthy battle with drugs and depression. He was 27 years old.

Love concluded, "Thank you for coming Harry, It was an honor to know you. ❤️🙏The seed of Buddhism is planted in you , I know you are at peace , greeted by the eternity of your next trip here, a boddhisatva of this earth. Nam myoho renge kyo.My heart goes out to all of us , in his chosen family whose hearts are shattered today,and all of his siblings, dad .. and sweet lily of the valley , his beloved mother , Stephanie . Au revoir lucrezia. What a beauty , you. 💔💔💔"

The singer included a gallery of photos posing alongside Brant in her touching tribute. Over the years, they were spotted at numerous fashion events together, including the launch of her Nasty Gal collection in 2016 (below).

Brant opened up about his friendship with the rocker to Vanity Fair in 2012. "She's the only one who's awake when I am," said the then-15-year-old. "We were friends from the first time we met and realized we were carrying around the same book on Greek mythology."

He shared numerous photos with Love on his Instagram account, including a photo from Halloween, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve throughout 2015.

"It is with enormous sorrow that we share with you the news that our beloved son, Harry Brant, lost his battle with addiction and died due to an accidental overdose of prescription medication," Stephanie and Peter shared in a statement with PEOPLE. "Our hearts are shattered. Harry wanted to overcome his addiction and was just days away from re-entering rehab."

"Harry was not just our son, he was also a wonderful brother, loving grandson, favorite uncle and a caring friend. He was a creative, loving and powerful soul that brought light into so many people's hearts. He was truly a beautiful person inside and out."

His parents also shared how much growing up in the fashion industry meant to their son. "Harry loved fashion and was a trailblazer of beauty and cosmetic products for men – collaborating with a major brand on a unisex cosmetic line. He was also a dedicated writer for Interview Magazine and his dream was to be a much bigger part of its creative department. He achieved a lot in his 24 years, but we will never get the chance to see how much more Harry could have done. We will forever be saddened that Harry's life was cut short by this devastating disease. We ask that you please allow our family privacy as we attempt to cope with the loss of our beautiful, beautiful boy."

A source tells PEOPLE he was close with his family, especially Seymour. "His mom was his everything. His family cared for him a lot."

Harry had reportedly struggled with addiction for several years and according to the source, his father was "worried" about Harry and was "trying to get him to go to rehab again."

"He was supposed to go to rehab again [on Monday]," says the source. "It's hard, anyone who knows addiction knows this."

At a young age, Brant followed in his mother's fashion footsteps. In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2012, Harry explained that he loved going to photo shoots with Seymour. "I went to literally dozens," Harry said. "I loved it, loved it, even to this day. Playing around and dressing up."

Between 2014 and 2015, he got his chance in front of the camera, posing for Givenchy ads, Italian Vogue, and even walking the Balmain runway.

In 2016, he launched his own unisex makeup and skincare line with M.A.C. Cosmetics alongside his brother Peter. And as a teen, he wrote a column for Interview magazine (which is owned by his father's company). Most recently, he posed for Perfect Diary makeup, which he shared on Instagram in Dec.
