Courtney B. Vance and Angela Bassett's kids might be on their way to joining the family business.

The Lovecraft Country star, 63, stopped by the 18th Annual Oscar Wilde Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday, when he spoke exclusively with PEOPLE on the red carpet about his and his kids' potential foray into acting.

When asked about whether twins Bronwyn and Slater, 18, have been bitten by the acting bug yet, Vance replied that it may only be a matter of time.

“I think they may find it in college, so I think that may happen,“ the actor said. “They're going to explore all kinds of things there, as we know."

"I'm excited for them. I'm really excited to see where they go and what they do," he added. “They're ready. They're more than ready.“

Vance, who has been married to Bassett, 65, since 1997, also noted that their kids don’t care so much about how famous their parents are.

“I think their mom and dad are just a lot of people who have parents who are famous or infamous,” he said of the twins. “... But, when a Black Panther or something like that happens, or the honorary Oscar [their mother received], they were there and Mommy made them stand up and be recognized. That's once-in-a-lifetime kind of stuff.“

“I think later on it'll hit them,” he continued.

Speaking about how the couple spends their downtime as their kids prepare to head off to college, Vance revealed that Bassett has a current favorite reality show.

“She likes to watch her shows,” Vance said. “... Shows like Love Is Blind and things like that. It's just mindless stuff, and we go see plays. We love to go to New York and see plays.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the actor also opened up about how he and Bassett don't let award successes, or losses, impact their craft.

“We look at it, and we're the same people when they like us, when they want us and when they don't,” Vance told PEOPLE. “So we just keep moving. Eventually, the world comes around to you and then one minute you're hot, one minute you're a little tepid, but you're still you.”

“We really try not to let it faze us,” he added.
