Courteney Cox isn't sure how she feels about being an empty nester.

Speaking to Marie Claire, the Friends star, 59, shared that after her daughter Coco, 19, left for college, she thought her daughter would need her more while being away.

"I miss that girl every minute," Cox says of her daughter. She tells the outlet that they FaceTime often and that she visited Coco just a few weeks ago.

"I found myself expecting [to run] into each other's arms," she shares.

"I expected her to need [me] more than she does," adds Cox. "It's an adjustment."

Cox also reflected on the time she got matching tattoos with Coco, her close friend Laura Dern and Dern's kids Ellery, 22, and Jaya, 18. Sharing that their families have celebrated almost every Christmas Eve together for the last 20 years, Cox says that this past year they decided to do something a little different.

"This [last] one, we went, 'Should we get tattoos together?' " Cox says, telling the outlet that she suggested they ink on the phrase "go long." Dern's son Ellery then proposed adding a drawing of a paper plane and a few weeks later, the group made the design permanent.

In June, the actress celebrated her daughter on her 19th birthday with a sweet tribute on her Instagram, featuring a selfie of the mother-daughter duo.

In the picture, Cox and Coco smiled cheek-to-cheek as the actress put her arm around her daughter.

"Happy Birthday Cocolicious! I love you and your sweet, caring, sensitive, spicy, original, salty, witty, beautiful heart. ♥️♥️♥️," Cox captioned the post.

Earlier that month, Cox recently shared on Live with Kelly and Ryan that she thinks her daughter will pursue her love of musical theater after taking a gap year, noting, "She's good. She's done plays since she was in kindergarten, probably 33 musical theater plays."

"So she's going into the family business," Kelly Ripa joked.

"I don't sing. Don't go too far into the family part," Cox laughed in reply.
