Courteney Cox reveals text she sent to daughter Coco during in-flight emergency on Jennifer Aniston's birthday trip

The emergency landing that Jennifer Aniston’s private plane made last week as a group of her friends headed from L.A. to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to celebrate her birthday, was no joke.

Aniston’s close friend Courteney Cox revealed exactly what caused the plane to turn back before arriving at the planned venue and instead end up at Ontario International Airport in Canada, where the guests waited for another plane to pick them up.

“I’m not afraid of flying at all … my dad was a pilot,” Cox told Extra, “but I was really scared, because when we were taking off, we heard this really loud bang and I was like, ‘Oh, that sounds like we should probably check that tire.'”

Cox soon discovered that she was almost right — they had completely lost a tire.

“There was no tire at all, there was no wheel,” she said. “Luckily, there are two wheels on each side and two in the front. I have to say, we were in the air for four hours, burning off fuel and just thought of what it is going to be like when we land… it was a really smooth landing.”

During her panic, the Friends actress said that she reached out to loved ones, including the 14-year-old daughter she shares with former husband David Arquette and her longtime love, Snow Patrol musician Johnny McDaid.

“I sent a little text to Coco, ‘I love you,’ I didn’t say why, and to Johnny… I told him everything that was going on and I FaceTimed him after.”

Cox and Aniston were part of a group of about a dozen women who took the trip to one of Aniston’s favorite vacation spots to celebrate her 50th birthday, according to TMZ. The guests reportedly included Molly McNearney, who’s married to Jimmy Kimmel, and Amanda Anka, the wife of Aniston’s Horrible Bosses co-star Jason Bateman.

Before the travel scare, Cox was one of the many celebs, including Reese Witherspoon, Ellen DeGeneres and George and Amal Clooney, as well as Aniston ex Brad Pitt, who toasted the Dumplin’ producer at a party at Sunset Tower in L.A.
