Country trio Brassfield to headline Full Moon

Apr. 10—Unlike the moments of darkness brought by a total solar eclipse earlier this week, two full moons will shine bright on Fifth Street this Friday night as Full Moon on 5th kicks off at 6 p.m. in downtown Meridian.

The laid back block party, organized by the Arts & Community Events Society, or ACES, will take place on Fifth Street between 22nd and 23rd avenues, sandwiched between two giant illuminated moons. Activities will run until 9 p.m.

A family-friendly event, Full Moon on 5th's April gathering will offer live music, good food, kids activities and local art. Admission is free.

Providing the entertainment will be Brassfield, a country music trio with Mississippi roots now based in Nashville, Tennessee. The trio consists of brothers Bradley and Chadley Brassfield, born in Tupelo, and Chadley's wife, Jessie Rose Brassfield, who hails from Lexington, Kentucky.

The Brassfield brothers grew up touring the southern United States, playing and singing in churches. They fell in love with being on the stage, according to the band's bio on their website. Jessie, meanwhile, comes from a long line of professional singers and musicians with her dad being JP Pennington of the well known country band Exile. She's been singing, playing piano and writing songs for as long as she can remember.

The group met in Nashville while separately pursuing music careers and discovered their voices blended to provide a unique sound. Brassfield currently is the house band for The Opry Backstage Grill in Nashville, and the trio is in the process of recording their first studio album.

Full Moon on 5th attendees are also encouraged to stop by the Artist Gallery on Fifth Street to explore the vibrant and colorful world of featured artist, Demetrius "Coach" Hill, who also serves as assistant football coach and head boys and girls powerlifting coach at Meridian High School.

This month's Full Moon on 5th event is presented by The Rotary Club of Meridian and sponsored by Mitchell Distributing and Magnolia Beverage Company Inc.
