Country star Sam Hunt is off the lineup for NASCAR Awards following DUI charges

Country star Sam Hunt is no longer performing at December's NASCAR Awards, following his arrest on DUI charges in Nashville last week.

In September, the "Body Like a Back Road" singer was booked as a performer at the event, taking place Dec. 5 at Nashville's Music City Center.

NASCAR announced on Monday that Chris Janson ("Good Vibes," "Buy Me a Boat") would now be performing at the event. The show will be co-hosted by Nashville country artist Cassadee Pope and TV racing analyst Rutledge Wood.

In a video message, Janson said he was excited to be performing, and congratulated Kyle Busch on his recent championship win at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

'It won’t happen again': Sam Hunt apologizes for DUI charges, open container violation

Hunt, 34, was charged with DUI and open container violation after his arrest in Nashville Thursday morning.

The singer was allegedly driving the wrong way on Ellington Parkway in Nashville. He allegedly tested with a blood alcohol level of 0.173, well over the legal limit of 0.08.

On Friday, Hunt apologized for his actions on social media.

"It was a poor and selfish decision," he wrote. "And I apologize to everyone who was unknowingly put at risk and let down by it. It won’t happen again."
