Country Singer Kylie Rae Harris Drunk Driving, Going Over 100 MPH During Deadly Crash
Country singer Kylie Rae Harris was legally drunk and speeding when she was involved in a fatal car accident killing her and another person.
According to the Taos County, New Mexico Sheriff's Department their investigation into the deadly crash is complete and it confirmed what they initially believed caused the accident.
Kylie Rae Harris, a Texas singer-songwriter was drunk and speeding at the time of the accident.
Speeding Over 100 MPH...
The investigation findings say Harris was driving 102 miles per hour when her vehicle crashed into another car on the freeway.
The information, collected from the on-board computer recovered from the vehicle says Harris was still traveling 95 mph when he careened over and into oncoming traffic and struck another car head-on.
"The now completed investigation supports what we suspected at the time of our initial investigation," the Sheriff said in his statement.
The impact killed Kylie Harris and a 16-year-old girl driving the other car, Maria Cruz.
Drunk Driving, Over 3-Times Legal Limit
The Sheriff's Department issued a press release saying at the time of her death, Harris had a blood-alcohol level of .28 at the time of the crash. This is more than three times the legal limit.
The 16-year-old had no alcohol in her system at the time.
At the time of her death, Harris's publicist said in a statement, “We are heartbroken to confirm that Kylie Rae Harris passed away in a car accident last night. Everyone that knew Kylie knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music. The best tribute to her unmatched enthusiasm for both is to spread as much love as you can today, and listen to music that fully inspires you.”
Tweeting Day Of Her Death
She tweeted the day of her death on Twitter saying, "Fuel range is 46 miles and I’m 36 from the nearest gas station. Dear baby Jesus please don’t let me get stranded in NM."
A third driver injured in the crash survived, but has serious injuries and trauma from the incident. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help her with the financial strains.
A message on the page says, "Sandra Davies was the 3rd party that was "clipped". She was clipped by a car going 100 mph. She was injured. She was the first responder. I saw her at the post office yesterday and said, "I am SO glad you are still with us!" and then I saw the look in her eye and knew she was with us, but incredibly injured physically, emotionally, mentally & spiritually."

It continued, "She told her story, She was humble and sad and explained she had no car, she couldn't even file an insurance claim because there is still not a police report. She was borrowing a friends car. She is in counseling but suffering severe PTSD from the accident. If you knew this beautiful soul you would do whatever it took to help her. She is an amazing Woman, Entrepreneur, Mother, Sister, Friend!"
The page is asking for donations to help the woman, saying, "I drove away realizing we had helped everyone except the one survivor of the wreck! Heartsick I wanted to start a fundraiser so she could at least heal and not have to worry about how to financially recover from this."
