Craig Morgan Releases Statement on Son Jerry's Death

Nearly two weeks after his son Jerry was found dead, country singer Craig Morgan has released a statement.

“The loss of our son Jerry is the hardest hing we have ever had to endure as a family. Karen and I are so grateful for all of the wonderful people who have shown us unwavering support during this difficult time,” Morgan wrote in a Facebook post accompanied by a photo the 19-year-old.

Morgan continues in the statement, thanking the countless people and public agencies, including the county sheriff, fire departments and friends and family, who assisted in the daylong search for Jerry.

“We are blessed by the outpouring of prayers and condolences from across the world. Jerry may be gone from this earth, and we will miss him every day, but his spirit will live on in our hearts,” Morgan added. “We will find peace knowing that God has a bigger plan, and that one day, we’ll be reunited with him again in Heaven.”

Jerry went missing after a boating accident in mid July, in which he fell off a tube and entered the water, but failed to resurface despite wearing a life vest. A search of the lake where her disappeared recovered Jerry’s body a day later.

It’s still unclear why he didn’t resurface.

“This was just a tragic accident as far as hitting a wave and coming off [the tube] and not coming up,” Sheriff Chris Davis said at the time.
