The CoJo Nation of loyal fans can get excited for 2024. Singer Cody Johnson brings his country songs to Wells Fargo Arena, 233 Center St. in Des Moines, in 2024.

The May 17, 2024, show is in support of his new album “Leather,” coming out out Nov. 3. The album includes collaborations with Jelly Roll ("Whiskey Bent") and Brooks & Dunn ("Long Live Country Music") as well as previously released singles "The Painter," "Work Boots," "Watching My Old Flame" and "That's Texas."

He also released an 18-track double album “Human,” filled songs that were originally “dubbed too country for country” and rejected by other Nashville artists.

Johnson has multiple ACM and CMA Awards nominations, a Platinum-selling, Top 10 single (“On My Way To You”), two RIAA Gold-certified tracks (“Nothin’ On You” and “With You I Am”) and more than two billion streams worldwide.

MusicRow magazine predicted that Johnson “just might be the future of real country music.”

Who opens for Cody Johnson?

Country singers Justin Moore and Drake Milligan open for Johnson.

Moore just released “You, Me, And Whiskey” with Priscilla Block. He performed with Lee Brice at Wells Fargo Arena in 2017, and even described why Des Moines comes up in his shows every time he plays.

Moore’s 2011 song “Flyin’ Down a Backroad” includes the line “Up there in Des Moines, they knew my songs line by line/I just stood there in the fake smoke/Another dream came true that night.” The line refers to one of the first times Moore heard his single "Small Town USA" sang back to him on stage at a radio event in Des Moines, the Des Moines Register reported in 2017.

Milligan appeared on “America’s Got Talent” and “American Idol.” He is probably best known as for portraying Elvis Presley on the CMT series “Sun Records” and starring in a film called “Nobody,” where he portrayed a young teen Elvis.
