Country act Dan + Shay to join Season 25 of 'The Voice' as the show's first coaching duo
Grammy-winning pop country duo Dan + Shay will soon join NBC's "The Voice" as the show's first-ever coaching duo.
The Nashville group, composed of vocalists and songwriters Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, will serve as coaches alongside RebaMcEntire, John Legend and Chance the Rapper when the popular singing competition's 25th season debuts in spring 2024, the network announced last week.
NBC shared the news Thursday ahead of the fall premiere of Season 24 of "The Voice," which will be the first without country star Blake Shelton. An exact premiere date has not yet been announced.
A coach on the show since its debut in 2011, Shelton previously announced in October that the 23rd season of "The Voice" would be his last.

Following Shelton's departure, McEntire, who served as an adviser to the coaches early in Season 23, will make her coaching debut in the upcoming season alongside Niall Horan, Gwen Stefani and Legend.
In a first for the show, Smyers and Mooney of Dan + Shay will together select their team of aspiring singers, whom the pair will coach throughout the competition when they join "The Voice" the following season.
The duo should be familiar to fans of "The Voice" after they served as Shelton's musical advisors in Season 20. And prior to that, Dan + Shay appeared on season 15 of "The Voice" to perform their song "Speechless" alongside the season's eventual champion Chevel Shepherd.
The close friends and musical collaborators formed their act a decade ago and have since garnered more than 10 billion global streams and released four studio albums. In 2021, they became the first artists to win the Grammy Award for best country duo/group performance three times consecutively since the category's inception.
