What Is Going On With 'AHS: 1984?'
With its very campy (ha) tone and low budget feeling special effects, American Horror Story: 1984 has proven to be a bit of a mystery to fans. Sure, they're enjoying the slasher homages, but something feels off and people can't quite place why.
One theory from Twitter is starting to get some traction, though, and it could have major implications for the rest of the season: What if American Horror Story is pulling another Roanoke and the first part of the season is a slasher movie?
Could This Theory Be Correct?
Cosmopolitan makes a pretty good case that this theory could actually hold water. For example, the actor (Zach Villa) playing Richard Ramirez, a.k.a The Night Stalker, has perfect teeth, while the real life serial killer had a much more mangled mouth. Could this be a clue that the whole thing has the Hollywood veneer?
A Few Sneaky Clues
There was also a callback "gay for pay" scene lifted right out of the Roanoke season, and the opening credits are stylized to be on a vintage television set. Add in the campy effects and some odd lines from the characters and this theory just might be true. Could Madison Montgomery be playing Brooke?
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Certainly won't stop fans from forming their own theories!
