"Fairly OddParents: A New Wish" introduces Hazel Wills (Ashleigh Crystal Hairston), a lonely young girl with some wishes.

For fairies, not even retirement lasts forever. Cosmo and Wanda, the titular characters of Nickelodeon's The Fairly OddParents franchise, went on a 10,000-year vacation across time and space, but are now ready to return to the business of granting wishes.

The new animated series Fairly OddParents: A New Wish will introduce a new godchild for the two fairies, Nickelodeon announced on Friday.

Susanne Blakeslee and Daran Norris reprise their roles as the voices of Wanda and Cosmo in the CG-animated series, which pairs them with new child Hazel Wills (Ashleigh Crystal Hairston). Hazel has just moved to the big city Dimmadelphia because of her dad's job. Dimmadelphia does sound different than Dimmsdale, the California town where the original series was set, but perhaps it is also under the influence of rich man Doug Dimmadome, owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome.

In any case, Hazel is feeling lonely and unsure of herself because her older brother Antony just left for college. Enter Cosmo and Wanda, who initially pose as her stranger green-and pink-haired neighbors before revealing themselves as her magical guardians who want to make all her wishes come true...no matter how rusty they might be after that long vacation.

The Fairly OddParents

The original Fairly OddParents series, which saw Cosmo and Wanda granting wishes for 10-year-old pink-hatted Timmy Turner, was created by Butch Hartman and ran for 172 episodes from 2001-2017.

It was followed by the live-action sequel series Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder, in which a grown-up Timmy (Caleb Pierce) entrusted Cosmo and Wanda to his 13-year-old cousin Viv Turner (Audrey Grace Marshall) and her stepbrother Roy Raskin (Tyler Wladis). All 13 episodes of that series premiered on Paramount+ on March 31, 2022, but have since been removed from the streaming service.

Fairly OddParents: A New Wish returns the franchise to its purely animated roots. The new series has been ordered for 20 episodes and will air on Nickelodeon in the U.S. and stream on Netflix internationally.
