A teacher has entertained parents across the country after mocking up an Ofsted report for his own home schooling - including a rating of ‘Requires Improvement’.

Andrew Jeffrey, who is also an author and school maths consultant, posted the report for the ‘Jeffrey Home School’ on Twitter with the comment: “Despite rumours they were on furlough, we just had an unannounced visit from @Ofstednews.

“It didn’t go as badly as we feared. Here’s the summary report. #HomeSchooling during #COVID—19.”

The report, which includes details like the address as ‘Kitchen Table, Nr. Brighton’, has already been shared more than 5,000 times.

The comedy report described the Jeffrey Home School as an “atrocious school” and gave it a ‘requires improvement’ rating in all categories including leadership and management, the safety of pupils, the quality of teaching and the achievement of pupils.

It said pupils don’t enjoy lessons, “except making a game where they throw a ball into various cardboard boxes”, adding: “That one seems to have caught on, at least.”

It also said: “The headteacher is eminently qualified but is regularly seen wearing nothing but a dressing gowns and underpants.”

Other comments included the fact that one child was found watching a Netflix boxset without adult supervision, while one Key Stage 2 pupil was apparently excluded for two weeks after being caught playing Fortnite and claiming it was a Geography project.”

Jeffrey, who runs teaching resource Magic Message, which aims to bring the ‘magic of mathematics’ to everyone including pupils and teachers through workshops and shows, got a welcome response from people across the country, who are home-schooling their children during the coronavirus lockdown.

In March the government ordered all schools in England to close “until further notice”, with the closures affecting all children, except those of key workers and those “who are most vulnerable”.

A national helpline has been set up for parents struggling with homeschooling and managing their child’s behaviour.

The service, launched by a coalition of academy trusts and parenting groups, will offer advice to families on how to educate their children at home while schools remain closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jeffrey has also been sharing advice to parents about working from home.

His mocked-up Ofsted report even got a response from Ofsted, who replied: “Dear Headteacher. Monitoring visit showed excellent leadership skills in difficult circumstances.

“Our admiration and thanks to all parents and children keeping it together.”
