From corned beef to green beer, where to find Irish food in Indy for St. Patrick's Day

No holiday is complete without its cuisine, and St. Patrick's Day is no exception. Whether it's traditional shepherd's pie or a foamy pint of green beer, there are plenty of St. Patrick's Day treats to enjoy throughout Indianapolis this weekend. You'll find deals and special menu items at the following restaurants and pubs starting Friday and running through St. Patrick's Day on Sunday.

5th Ave. Grill and Bar

This Beech Grove haunt will offer corned beef and cabbage alongside $5 Jameson Irish mules, $6 Guinness pints and $3 green beer alongside karaoke Friday through Sunday.

Billy O’Neal’s

This Irish pub goes all out for St. Patrick’s Day, offering corned beef and cabbage, green tea shots (Irish whiskey, peach schnapps, sour mix and lemon-lime soda), Irish car bombs (shot of Irish cream and whiskey dropped into Guinness) and plenty of beer, from gold to amber to green.

Books Bourbon and Bacon Bloom and Bread Truck

Books Bourbon and Bacon will offer special St. Patrick’s Day fare Friday through Sunday, both at its kitchen in Loom on East 46th Street and its food truck called the Bread Truck, which will make stops throughout Indianapolis over the weekend. The menu includes a variety of Irish-inspired cultural clashes such as bangers and cheddar mash Korean corn dogs, shepherd’s pie chimichangas, Bailey’s cream-stuffed donuts and green beignets.

BB&B’s kitchen at Loom, Bloom, is open 5 p.m. until closing Friday through Sunday. The Bread Truck will be downtown for the St. Patrick's Day Parade (11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Tent Party (9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.) on Friday on North Street between Pennsylvania and Meridian Street, at the Canal greening Friday evening, at SNUG in Irvington on Saturday and Sunday and at 16-Bit Bar and Arcade downtown Saturday and Sunday night. Brew Link Brewing

Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Brew Link will serve up corned beef sandwiches ($14), corned beef tacos ($14) and bangers and mash ($14) alongside green-dyed pints of their Imagine lager ($5). Customers can also imbibe Guinness pints ($5), Jameson shots ($4) and Irish car bombs ($7).

Howl at the Moon

The bar, live music and party venue will offer $5 cans of green beer, plus mint cocktails and Lucky Charms shots featuring vodka, whipped cream and confetti sprinkles.

King Jugg Brewing Company

King Jugg will host a three-day party Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Guests can enjoy Irish food, live music, prize giveaways and a variety of drinks including Guinness on tap and plenty of green beer. Entry is free on Friday and $10 on Saturday and Sunday. Those who plan to attend both Saturday and Sunday can pay $15 for the weekend. The cover fee comes with a free King Jugg beer.

McGilvery’s Pub and Eatery

This Speedway Irish bar will serve corned beef and cabbage, green beer, green Jell-O shots and more during its St. Patrick’s celebration Friday through Sunday.

McGinley’s Golden Ace Inn

Open since 1934, this Irish bar celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with three days of live music, beer and burgers. The cash-only event runs Friday through Sunday. There is a Catholic mass service led by Father Joe Moriarty at the Inn open to all Sunday morning, but the rest of the weekend is for patrons 21 and over only.

Muldoon’s

Guests at Muldoon’s can enjoy Irish classics like shepherd’s pie and beef stew with Guinness broth while drinking green beer and listening to live folk music Friday through Sunday.

Murphy’s Pubhouse

All three Murphy’s locations will offer a special St. Patrick’s Day menu Friday through Sunday. Guests can feast on corned beef and cabbage, leek and potato soup, Irish stew, shepherd’s pie and other Irish staples while sipping green beer and listening to live music.

O’Gara’s Irish Pub

O’Gara’s kicks off its St. Patrick’s Day festivities Saturday at noon with corned beef and cabbage, green cocktails live music. The event is cash only, with a $5 entry fee. Guests 21 and older only.
