Corey Seager and his wife Madisyn Seager have a love story fit for a movie.

The couple first met while attending the same high school in North Carolina. After dating for a few years, the two went their separate ways before rekindling their romance and they've been inseparable ever since.

Corey and Madisyn had a long-distance relationship while he played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and she attended college across the country in their homestate. The MLB star proposed to his girlfriend of four years in December 2019 and they got married a year later during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"it’s always been you, it’s always been us 🤍," she captioned one of their wedding photos on Instagram.

Madisyn was also by Corey's side following his World Series win with the Texas Rangers in November 2023.

They were high school sweethearts

Corey and Madisyn crossed paths while attending the same high school, Northwest Cabarrus High School, in Kannapolis, North Carolina. They were introduced through her older sister, who was in the same grade as him.

“The most memorable part of meeting her was how nice she was,” Corey told Inside Weddings. “Even back then it was easy to hangout and talk with her. Also, she was pretty cute!”

Madisyn’s first image on her personal Instagram account is of them attending Corey’s senior prom together in 2012. After he graduated, she continued her studies while being a flyer on the cheerleading team and a member of the track and field team.

Although Corey initially committed to playing baseball at the University of South Carolina on a scholarship, he turned down the opportunity when he was drafted. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected him in the first round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft as the 18th overall pick.

The pair kept dating while the athlete got his start across the country, but it proved difficult, and they eventually broke up.

“We tried long distance, but being so young, we just weren’t ready for that,” Madisyn shared with the magazine.

He got her parents’ blessing to propose

After a few years, Corey and Madisyn rekindled their relationship when she visited him while he was playing in the minor leagues. By early 2015, she was posting pictures with Corey again on Instagram.

“I saw he still had a picture frame I gave him of us, and it just melted me,” she told Inside Weddings.

As the pair spent more together, they fostered a deeper bond, causing Corey to think more about their future.

“I think I always knew I would propose one day. It’s not very often you meet someone and have an instant connection,” he added. “It really hit me one night when we were dancing in the kitchen together making dinner … I knew in that moment I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.”

On Dec. 7, 2019, Corey got down on one knee while they were in Boston attending a New England Patriots game to watch Tom Brady play — a sports event on his bucket list. After getting her parents' blessing, he decided to cross off two things simultaneously.

“He said he proposed to me while there because marrying me was another one of his bucket-list items,” Madisyn said. “I totally expected him to propose in our hometown … It was so special because I truly was surprised, and he put so much thought into every detail.”

The newly engaged couple announced the exciting milestone on Instagram via individual posts. "Yes foreva eva! Here’s to the next chapter with you ❤️!!" Corey captioned a photo with Madisyn.

They got married during the COVID-19 pandemic

Corey and Madisyn wed at Saddle Wood Farms in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, near Nashville on Dec. 5, 2020.

The groom’s father presided over the intimate ceremony, and the couple exchanged personal vows before the ceremony. Their dog Hazel also served as ring bearer, wearing a custom tutu.

“I’ll never forget how she looked walking down the aisle! Never," Corey told Inside Weddings of his wife.

Speaking with PEOPLE, the shortstop revealed that they dealt with "uncertainties" while planning their special day due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, it "made us focus on the most important thing: marrying each other," Madisyn added.

As for the wedding, her vision of a twinkling night sky came true for their winter nuptials. “We created a gorgeous combination of string lights and greenery throughout the entire venue, but especially over the head table, and it literally felt like the starry night I had imagined,” she explained to Inside Weddings.

She is a social media pro

According to her LinkedIn, she received her bachelor of business administration and marketing certification in personal selling from East Carolina University in 2018.

Madisyn was in the Honor Society and on the Dean’s List during her time in college. She also tutored fellow students in business calculus and financial accounting through her school’s academic center.

Away from her textbooks, she was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Tri Sigma. In 2015, she became the social chair of Sigma Sigma Sigma National Society, and planned events for the 200 local members. Madisyn was named the sorority's president the following year, overseeing members during chapter meetings and reported to the national headquarters.

When she was at ECU, she was a social media intern at Melissa’s Produce before becoming a social media marketing specialist for the distributor company in 2018. Madisyn also volunteers for the March of Dimes and Robbie Page Memorial Fund.

She is a dog mom

Corey and Madisyn adopted a "old toy Australian Shepherd from Texas" in 2019 when she was 9 weeks old. Hazel, whose nicknames include Hazelnut and Haze, is Madisyn's “best little workout buddy, travel partner, cuddler,” per an Instagram post celebrating her fourth birthday.

The married couple later adopted another mini Australian Shepherd in November 2022 and named her Harlow.

"We couldn’t help but add more craziness to our little fam, Haze is gonna be the best big sis!!" Madisyn captioned a gallery of photos on social media.

She is a baseball fan

Madisyn is a major baseball fan, thanks to her husband. Aside from cheering him on at his games back in high school and during his time in the minor leagues, she's regularly spotted on the sidelines during the MLB season.

She befriended the other significant others of fellow Los Angeles Dodgers players and together they made matching jean jackets to support their husbands with their jersey numbers. Madisyn is also athletic and even tried her hand at softball for charity.

She was there when Corey won the World Series with the Dodgers in 2020 and shared how inspired she was witnessing him accomplish his personal goals and postseason records.

"You are so inspiring, babe and I’m just so grateful to be your biggest cheerleader through it all!! YOU DID THE DAMN THING. 🏆 ," Madisyn wrote in a congratulatory post on Instagram.

She is supportive of his career

Right after graduating from college, she moved across the country to be with Corey in California, and after seven years with the Dodgers, he signed a 10-year, $325 million deal with the Texas Rangers.

The career change prompted them to move down south to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but before doing so, Madisyn reflected on their time in the City of Angels.

“LA, we spent almost 7 years of our life here,” she wrote on Instagram in December 2021, alongside personal photos with Corey and their friends. “You will always hold a special place in our hearts… we went from dating to marriage. Core went from ROY to WS MVP."

Two years later, Madisyn was by Corey's side as he celebrated the Rangers' first World Series win in November 2023. She posted a picture of herself on her Instagram Story before the final game in a red T-shirt with "5" on it, which is Corey's jersey number.

In April 2024, Madisyn was on the field with Corey on Opening Day, celebrating the start of the season. She shared a photo of the two of them together, showing off his World Series ring, on Instagram.

In her caption, she wrote, "it was an opening weekend for the books!! 💍❤️‍🔥."
