Corey Feldman Recalls His 'Shocking' Exchange with Barbara Walters on “The View”: 'Wrong and Off Base'

"It was like a knife in the heart," Feldman said of his October 2013 experience on the talk show where he called out child predators following a sexual assault

Barbara Walters made an unforgettable impression on Corey Feldman.

The actor, 52, shared why his October 2013 appearance on The View — in which Walters accused him of "damaging an entire industry" after calling out child predators — still resonates with him to this day.

"It was like a knife in the heart," Feldman told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published on Thursday, May 2. "It was shocking to me that somebody who I admired so much and I looked up to so much could be so deaf and so just completely wrong and off base."

At the time of his talk show appearance, Feldman was promoting his memoir Coreyography, in which he detailed the alleged sexual assault he and fellow child star Corey Haim faced by people in the industry.

A resurfaced clip from the interview shows him telling Walters and her co-hosts: "I'm saying that there were people that did this to both me and Corey, that are still working, they're still out there, and they're some of the richest, most powerful people in this business. And they do not want me saying what I'm saying right now."

After Walters asked Feldman if the "powerful people" are "pedophiles" and if they are still in the industry, he responded yes and gave advice about entering the industry.

Walters then looked at him and said, "You're damaging an entire industry," to which he responded, "I'm sorry. I'm not trying to. I'm just trying to say that it's a very important, serious topic."

The Masked Singer contestant told Entertainment Weekly that he never got an apology from Walters before she died on Dec. 30, 2022, at age 93.

"I never got an apology. The only apology I've ever gotten is from a few Twitter followers who've said, we all want to apologize on her behalf for the fact that she never acknowledged you or apologized," Feldman said.

He told that outlet that he is still "praying that one day my voice, Corey's voice, all the voices of all the victims that I experienced and saw in my time as a child get their voices heard and get a chance to come forward and have a chance of justice."

Feldman also added that fellow child stars speaking out about their own experiences in projects such as the recent docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV gives him a positive perspective on the future.

"Tides seem to be changing, and the tides seemed to be turning. And hopefully maybe one day somebody will care enough to help me get my story told properly," Feldman said.
