Cordle and Hess: Dynamic duo to headline Years of Farming

Dec. 2—FLEMINGSBURG — Award-winning Kentucky native Larry Cordle will return to Years of Farming at Double S Entertainment at 2 p.m. Sunday, with Athens, Ohio, native Clay Hess.

Hailing from eastern Kentucky, Cordle is best known for his highly successful songwriting talents, including the No. 1 hit song, "Highway 40 Blues," recorded by Ricky Skaggs, and as co-writer of "Murder on Music Row."

In addition, many other artists, such as Alison Krauss, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, Diamond Rio and Alan Jackson and have recorded Cordle's original songs.

The Grammy Nominated artist regularly records and performs; he writes independently for his own company, Wandachord Music, BMI.

Clay Hess, leader of The Clay Hess Band, has been lead guitarist for Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, winning a Grammy Award during his tenure. Next, Hess toured and recorded with several of the top bands in the genre. With the help of longtime friend and musical comrade Randy Kohrs, Clay recorded his critically acclaimed solo CD "Rain" with the title track going to No. 1 on the Bluegrass Today chart.

The opening act will be Jesse Fuson and Josh Williams, who met in a drug and alcohol treatment center. The two found they shared a love for music which helped them cope and pushed them through the hard times. Since completing treatment, the two have remained friends and have devoted themselves to sharing their testimony with others, playing at various churches and doing ministries in jails. One of their highlights in playing music was playing at Ralph Stanley's Coal Miner Appreciation at Hills of Home in August.
