Woman allegedly banned from amusement park over length of her shorts: 'You should be ashamed'

A woman is claiming that a cop at Six Flags confronted her over the length of her shorts in front of her 11-year-old daughter.

Unfortunately, public debate over women’s clothes is nothing new to the news cycle. Recently, a TikTok went viral after a young woman claimed a mom pressured her to leave a beach because she was wearing a bikini. Earlier in March, another TikTok went viral after a woman accused her neighbor of calling the police over her outfit.

Now, another woman is stepping forward with a similar event that she captured on film.

Bailey Breedlove took to Facebook on May 2 to claim that she and her family were visiting a Six Flags amusement park in Oklahoma City when her 11-year-old daughter was stopped by an officer for rolling down a hill with her Heelys — a brand of skate shoe with a removable wheel embedded in the sole.

Then, the officer allegedly turned her attention to Breedlove’s outfit.

“[The officer] proceeded to follow me and grabbed my arm to turn me around and proceeded to tell me my shorts were ‘too short,’” Breedlove wrote on Facebook. “I committed no crime and proceeded to walk to my boyfriend as I am autistic and have a hard time talking to officers. She followed me yelling and calling for backup.”

Breedlove also claimed that at the point the incident unfolded, she had been walking around the park for several hours with no complaints about her shorts. After the officer allegedly called for backup, Breedlove said a park manager showed up.

“I was told I needed to go buy new shorts,” Breedlove recalled. “Then I was threatened with criminal trespassing when I agreed to buy new shorts so my family could enjoy their vacation.”

Ultimately, Breedlove said her family decided to leave the park. However, the officer then allegedly pulled out handcuffs and asked Breedlove for her ID. It was at this moment that a family member decided to start filming the interaction, which Breedlove uploaded to both Facebook and TikTok. Her video on TikTok has reached over 2 million views.

“I was terrified I was about to go to jail over a pair of shorts,” Breedlove wrote in her Facebook post. “My 11-year-old daughter [was] crying hysterically thinking her mother was about to be arrested.”

Breedlove concluded the post by claiming that she had received a five-year ban from Six Flags theme parks.

“You should be ashamed,” she wrote on Facebook. “My experience there was traumatizing.”

Breedlove also added that she reached out to the Oklahoma City Police Department for information on the officer seen in the viral video and that a police representative informed her that the guard in question was not affiliated with the department.

“We have spoken with the Oklahoma Police Department captain and he assured us this was NOT an Oklahoma City police officer,” she wrote in an update to her Facebook post.

It remains unclear whether the officer involved was part of Six Flags’ security team or not.

According to the Oklahoma City Six Flags website, the park does reserve the right to deny entry to “anyone who refuses to comply with the dress code.” However, there is no specification about the length of shorts required while inside for the park. Instead, the park lists a broader ban on “clothing generally considered offensive.”

Breedlove also shared a video showing off the “shorts in question” on her TikTok.

“I work[ed] for Six Flags Fiesta [in] Texas for seven years and [have] definitely seen shorter shorts,” one commenter wrote.

“If there were an issue she shouldn’t have been let in, period,” another added.
