Construction underway for newest Busch Gardens roller coaster

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Construction for a brand new attraction at Busch Gardens is officially underway.

“Phoenix Rising” is the theme park’s 10th roller coaster and the first ride with an on-board audio feature, with a “one-of-a-kind soundtrack.” Guests must be taller than 42 inches to take flight on the new ride.

The attraction is located in the Pantopia area of the park, near Falcon’s Fury, and will be the largest addition to that region. The coaster will reach speeds of 44 mph throughout a more than 1,800-feet journey.

“Riders will feel the rush of the wind and thrill of the flight in this suspended roller coaster that enable ride cars and riders to swing side to side as the train races along the track high above the Serengeti Plain.“

The park said annual pass members will be the first to ride before it opens to the public.

“’Phoenix Rising’ will be an extraordinary journey for our seasoned coaster enthusiasts and younger thrill-seekers alike,” Stewart Clark, president of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay said.

The ride is expected to open sometime this Spring.
