Constance Wu reveals she's expecting baby No. 2: 'Bun in the oven'

Constance Wu has officially greenlit the sequel in her motherhood journey.

The actress and "Velma" star revealed on social media Tuesday that she’s pregnant with her second child. Wu posted a photo of herself smiling and pointing to her growing baby bump on her Instagram story.

“Bun in the oven,” Wu wrote. “Filipinese baby no. 2 coming soon.”

The social media pregnancy reveal is a departure for Wu, who is notoriously private about her personal life and didn't announce her pregnancy with her first child, a daughter born in the summer of 2020.

Wu’s manager Larry Taube confirmed to USA TODAY in December 2020 that Wu had privately welcomed a baby girl with musician boyfriend Ryan Kattner, aka Honus Honus of the rock band Man Man.

In 2018, Wu opened up about backlash she's faced for dating non-Asian men.

"Hate and criticism in any form do not feel good," Wu told StyleCaster. "But I do think having the freedom to express things that are painful to certain people and start conversations about deeper issues (is a good thing). Unfortunately, sometimes those conversations are targeted, but I’m very confident in the choices I make and why I make them."

Wu’s pregnancy follows a time of personal catharsis for the actress, who released her debut book, "Making a Scene," in October. The book, a collection of intimate essays, saw Wu get candid about the abuse she alleged while working on the sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat," as well as her mental health struggles.

"I wasn't ready to (talk about this) back when I was still pretty raw and wounded by it. But now that I've gone through a ton of therapy, even though it's very scary to talk about, I feel equipped with the tools to talk about it and open up conversations," Wu told USA TODAY at the time. “I swallowed abuse for so long, and when you repress your feelings, they don't just go away because you willed them to. That's not how feelings work."
