How Connor McDavid plans to raise the bar this season

Because a second Art Ross Trophy in as many full NHL seasons apparently isn’t enough, Connor McDavid is aiming for more in the 2018-19 season.

At the Biosteel camp in Toronto on Monday, the Oilers’ superstar was asked about what part of his game he wants to improve on.

And his answer should strike fear into goaltenders’ hearts.

“I’ve always said that I want to score more, that’s what I want to do,” McDavid said. “I want to find ways to score. I think I’m a good passer and can make plays and all that, but there’s definitely a knack to putting the puck in the net.”

We saw No. 97’s desire to light the lamp more this past season when he jumped from 30 goals as a sophomore to finding the back of the net 41 times as a third-year pro. Good enough for sixth in the league last season, similar progress this season could see McDavid add another trophy to his mantle: a Rocket Richard.
