Connie Britton Says Goodbye to Her ‘Nashville’ Character, Considers Return

On Monday’s The Late Show, Connie Britton visited Stephen Colbert in her first appearance since her character, Rayna Jaymes, was killed on the CMT show Nashville. Fans were shocked by the lead character’s abrupt death. Britton confirmed that Rayna was indeed dead.

Colbert asked if there were any way that Britton could possibly return to the show. Though she was pitched the idea of a zombie Rayna or an evil twin, Britton denied them all but jokingly thought Rayna’s evil twin was a good idea.

Though the zombie version of Rayna would be an instant classic, Britton bid her character a fond farewell. She said, “Rayna will live on forever. You know, I feel so fortunate I was able to play that character, truly, with all my heart, I love that character so much. Just like when we lose somebody in our lives, the spirit lives on.”

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 on CBS.
