UPDATE THURSDAY PM: Connie Britton took to Instagram to address her surprise no show at the Emmy Awards where she had been slated for an American Horror Story reunion with her Season 1 co-lead Dylan McDermott.

As Deadline reported, Britton was in Los Angeles, had participated in rehearsals virtually and was ready to go when she was asked to take an earlier flight back to New York due to a snowstorm to make it to the set of her new Netflix series Zero Day on time. In her post, Britton revealed just how close she got to attending the Emmys before getting the call, sharing photos of her in her gown and full hair and makeup.

“I was definitely the most decked out person on my cross country flight that evening!,” she quipped. You can see her post below.

PREVIOUS TUESDAY AM: Cast reunions paying homage to milestone comedy and drama series from the past few decades were one of last night’s Emmy Awards’ main attractions. Taking place on a stage that recreated a signature setting from the show, the reunions brought back together stars from Grey’s Anatomy, The Sopranos, Cheers, Martin and Ally McBeal.

But one planned reunion, of original American Horror Story leads Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton, didn’t happen, with McDermott walking through a replica of the Murder House gates alone to acknowledge the influential show and its creators, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. He was later joined by host Anthony Anderson decked up as Rubber Man. (You can watch the video above.) Launching in 2011, AHS ushered in the current proliferation of anthology series.

Britton, who is filming the Netflix limited series Zero Day in New York and Connecticut, was in Los Angeles. She attended Emmy rehearsals virtually because of a scheduling conflict but was all set to appear at the ceremony. However, she had to fly back earlier than anticipated due to a forecasted snowstorm on the East Coast so she can fulfill her work commitments.

For fans who wanted to see McDermott and Britton reunite after the original Murder House season of AHS, they can rewatch Season 8 of the FX series, AHS: Apocalypse, in which the duo reprise their roles.
