A 41-year-old Congolese asylum seeker died Wednesday in U.S. government custody shortly after she entered a border station in South Texas, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Thursday.
Ryan: I married an immigrant. We went through the legal process and when we had our interview the USCIS agent was very welcoming to my wife. But she made it very clear she was not being granted permanent resident status to become dependent on public assistance. That she was expected to be a contributing member of society. We both respected and understood that.
