We're confused — why is near billionaire Kylie Jenner promoting detox tea on Instagram?

In a world full of so much uncertainty, there is one thing we know for sure: Kylie Jenner is rich AF.

Thanks to her recent Forbes cover, we know that the 20-year-old reality star turned beauty mogul is on pace to be the youngest self-made billionaire in history. Kylie’s mega-successful makeup company, Kylie Cosmetics; her family’s reality series, Keeping Up With The Kardashians; and her various modeling gigs and appearances bring her net worth to around $900 million. Needless to say, the girl ain’t hurting for money.

So why on earth is Kylie promoting a detox tea on her Instagram account? The mogul confused fans this week by posting this ad for a Teami Blends detox program on social media, claiming it got rid of her tummy bloat like “magic.”

No shade, but Teami is often promoted by Bachelor contestants like Ashely Lynn Rosenbaum, and former political candidates, such as Sarah Palin. A-list, über-rich celebrities like Kylie aren’t the tea brand’s typical mouthpieces.

Not to mention, Teami doesn’t exactly have the best reputation. Last year, Demi Lovato came under fire for promoting the same 30-day Detox Challenge that Kylie just posted. Detox teas in general are often criticized for containing a ton of caffeine and even traces of laxatives to help you “lose weight.” Some teas also come with unwanted side effects, such as cramping, headaches, and increased anxiety.

Obviously, celebrities are paid to endorse any product on social media, even the controversial ones — a practice that Kylie is no stranger to, by the way. According to the Daily Mail, the reality star scored an easy $1 million for the lone post, but fans are still confused. I mean, it’s not like she needs the extra cash!

Kylie, as usual, did not respond to the criticism.
