Concord University to hold Second Annual Alumni and Friends Band Concert

ATHENS, WV (WVNS) — The Second Annual Alumni and Friends Band Concert will be held at Concord University on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

The concert will be presented by Concord University’s Music Program, and will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 in the Anderson Family Theatre of the Alexander Fine Arts Center.

Alumni, local band directors, and high school students are welcome to perform with the members of Concord University’s band. Those who would like to attend can register, see the rehearsal schedule, and request the music here.

At the concert, Dr. Jay Crone, euphonium soloist and Professor of Music at Virginia Tech, will perform “Tres Fados para Bombardon e Banda”, composed by Jim Sochinski.

In 1994, Dr. Crone became a faculty member at Virginia Tech, and has performed across the nation with bands and orchestras such as the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra and the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Crone plays in Harrisonburg, Virginia with the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival Orchestra, and is the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra, Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, and Opera Roanoke’s Principal Trombone.

  • Godzilla Eats Las Vegas, by Eric Whittaker
