Concert Truck stops in Joplin for 7 performances, here’s where

JOPLIN, Mo. — A unique venue is bringing classical music to Joplin.

The Baltimore-based Concert Truck rehearsed for this week’s performances in the Cornell Complex parking lot Tuesday. It’s a box truck that’s been converted into a concert hall — complete with lights, sound, a piano and a violin.

The Concert Truck is partnering with Connect2Culture to give seven free performances from Wednesday to Sunday, anywhere the truck can park.

“We’ll be at some really major events in town like Third Thursday, the Joplin Empire Market. We’ll be visiting Mercy Park so you can come listen to the music and then maybe take a stroll around the rotary sculpture garden. So we’ve picked out a variety of different spots in town just to hopefully invite as many people as possible to experience this music,” said Emily Frankoski, Connect2Culture Executive Director.

“Sometimes we play for audiences who don’t expect it all, and that’s really great because it’s something that I think is taken out of what people usually consider the context of classical music, and it’s really great and wonderful to see just the natural reactions to the music itself,” said Susan Zhang, The Concert Truck Co-Director / Performer.

You can find a full list of performance dates, here. Connect2Culture is also announcing its full summer programming schedule this week.
