Composer Marco Beltrami Scores Pacific Palisades House (EXCLUSIVE)
Prolific film and television composer Marco Beltrami, a longtime collaborator with horror film auteur Wes Craven who penned the score for the 1996 blockbuster “Scream,” shelled out $4.75 million for a stylishly appointed home in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles.
Marketing materials don’t indicate the square footage but do show the 5-bedroom and 4.5 bathroom traditional was built in 2000 and effectively merges traditional notions and architecture features such as a picket-fenced front yard and thick crown moldings and with modern-minded luxuries and premium quality materials. Matte finished and probably hand-scraped hardwoods in the center hall entry, which makes an impressively long stretch just about clear through to the rear of the residence, extend into the flanking formal living and dining rooms, the former with fireplace the latter with custom built-ins for linen and dishware storage.
Beyond the dining room, a marble-floored center-island kitchen with snow-white cabinetry, slab marble counter tops and high-end stainless steel appliances opens to a marble-floored informal dining area that links through French doors to a family room with a floor-to-ceiling entertainment unit. A nicely sized trio of guest and family bedrooms on the upper floor have interestingly angled ceilings as does the master suite where there are French doors to a private terrace and a marble bathroom with free-standing soaking tub. Just outside the family room an al fresco dining area and outdoor kitchen steps up to a sunbathing deck and plunge-sized swimming pool.
Property records suggest Beltrami, who won Oscars for “3:10 to Yuma” in 2007 and “The Hurt Locker” in 2010, and his wife, Jill, currently own several residential parcels near Tiverton, R.I, and they previously owned a one-plus acre spread in the Point Dume area of Malibu purchased in late 2002 for a bit more than $1.5 million and sold over the summer of 2015 for a sliver more than $2.5 million.
