‘Complete misdirection’ or ‘Barbie dream house?’ Michigan home for sale is...befuddling

A residence that will appeal to someone’s inner child has just glammed up the real estate market in Ann Arbor, Michigan, for a reasonable price.

A two-bedroom, 2.2-bathroom condo has listed for $315,000, and the description of the property sums up some pretty nostalgic feelings.

“Dreams do come true!” the listing on Moving the Mitten says. “Who needs a Barbie Dream HOUSE when you can have a MAINTENANCE-FREE Barbie Dream CONDO! The unassuming and well-maintained exterior of this desirable Alpine Colonial Townhome leads into the well-curated and imaginatively decorated retreat that every glam gal or guy would LOVE!”

On the outside, you have your basic, run-of-the-mill condo with lower half brick face and a couple windows. But inside it looks like a flamingo threw a bubble gum pink tea party and invited all of its friends.

“Pink, pink, PINK custom kitchen complete with granite countertops, pink-hued Travertine tile, breakfast island, Barbie-inspired appliance package and a door with easy access to two covered carport spaces for both Barbie and Ken’s sports cars,” the listing says.

That’s a lot of pink.

Other features in and around the 1,280-square-foot-house include:

  • Deck

  • Two primary suites

  • Lots of storage

  • Finished basement

“When Barbie and Ken want to be active, the semi-private Georgetown Country Club is RIGHT NEXT DOOR and offers golf, tennis and swimming,” the listing adds. “Doesn’t it look just like a Barbie Dream House? All those childhood memories rushing back. Barbie and Ken NOT included.”

Folks on the popular Facebook page Zillow Gone Wild — a page that highlights unique properties for sale — were highly amused by the property and some even started pining for it.

“Do you know what I love about this home? Complete misdirection inside when you see the exterior,” one person joked. “The exterior is all: hello, sweetheart. Grandma baked you cookies. Go on in and grab some and a cup of milk. Meanwhile, the inside leaves VERY little to the imagination to what might happen 90% of the time in ‘Juicy’s’ home. It’s gaudy. It’s chaotic. I am both confused and intrigued.”

“This house looks like the inside of my mind. I appreciate it,” another said.

“It’s not *my* style, but I love when people commit to being 100% unapologetically themselves like this,” someone noted.

“I see a house that was well loved and taken care of. I actually almost feel sad the person isn’t or won’t be in it anymore. So much time and effort with the details. They clearly loved it,” another observed.

“I love everything about this house,” one person said.

“I’m not gonna lie, I kind of love it! It speaks to my pink and sparkly loving self,” another commented.
