Almost seven years after its inaugural season aired, the FX anthology series “Feud” has finally returned for a second stand-alone installment. Whereas its first season dramatized the bitter rivalry between classic film actresses Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, its second – subtitled “Capote vs. The Swans” – tells the story of how author Truman Capote betrayed his friendships with half a dozen New York socialites by deviously incorporating scandalous details from their personal lives into the novel “Answered Prayers.” Take a look through our photo gallery comparing the new season’s eight main cast members to the real people they portray.

Like “Feud: Bette and Joan,” “Capote vs. The Swans” is (partially) set in the 1960s, during which Capote began writing “Answered Prayers.” Although he sporadically continued to work on the book over the next two decades, he failed to finish it before his death in 1984 and instead only witnessed the publication of a few chapters in mid-1970s issues of “Esquire” magazine. A novel-length version (marketed as unfinished) was ultimately released in 1986, well after the deaths of two of his “swans”: Ann Woodward and Babe Paley.

Since “Feud” is part of the Ryan Murphy television universe, many of its latest season’s stars have already appeared on earlier shows that bear his name. This includes Naomi Watts (“The Watcher”), Molly Ringwald (“Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”), and Chloë Sevigny, who participated in two iterations of “American Horror Story” (“Asylum” and “Hotel”) and is slated to play a key role on 2024’s “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story.”

The first two episodes of “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans” will premiere on FX on Wednesday, January 31 before streaming on Hulu the next day.
