The Community star, 52, shared the exciting news live on The View on Tuesday while guest co-hosting the ABC talk show. "I have some news, and I heard that The View is the place to announce things like this. I’m engaged," Brown said, before holding up her hand to show off her engagement ring as the audience cheered and clapped.

"And he's here! He's here! That's Tony," she continued, pointing to her fiancé, actor Anthony Davis, who was seated in audience.

"You are one lucky man," co-host Sunny Hostin told him, before asking Brown how she and Davis met.

As it turns out, the pair recently reconnected after first crossing paths decades ago. "We've known each other since we were in our 20s. We were in an acting class together at church years ago," Brown said. "He's an amazing actor, by the way. Anthony Davis, everybody. He was married at the time, and we were platonic friends, and then we lost touch for a few years."

Davis reached out in 2021 after Brown's mother died. "Then he found me," she continued, quickly clarifying, "after he divorced."

The Emmy-nominated actress said she believes her late mom had a hand in the couple's reunion. "I feel like my mom and his mom kind of did it," she explained. "He’s just wonderful … he’s a nice man, you guys. He’s a nice, kind, loving man."

Davis had equally touching words for his new fiancée. "She's just the most beautiful person in the world," he said.

Brown's co-hosts of course wanted all the details on how Davis' proposal unfolded. The Avengers: Endgame star explained that she was visiting her hometown in Ohio, where her alma mater, Warrensville Heights High School, had recently named its auditorium after her.

"We were celebrating that, and then [Davis] gave me a [lottery scratch card] and the scratcher said, 'Will you marry me?' " she recounted, joking, "I thought I was going to win some money and I won a man!"

On Monday, The View celebrated yet another engagement among its family. During the broadcast, co-host Whoopi Goldberg took a moment to acknowledge crew member Nikki Cain, who got engaged over the weekend.

"Before we do anything, I want to congratulate the young lady you're going to see — she takes pictures around here from time to time," the Sister Act star, 68, said, as the camera panned to Cain, who works as an associate social media producer.

"She just got engaged this week. Her name is Nikki," she continued.

Cain was overcome with emotion after the touching shout-out from her colleague, as she could be seen wiping tears from her face.

"I grew up at the show, I know so many people here, so the fact that I get to celebrate with you all makes it the perfect ending to a perfect day," she said of the engagement tribute.
