Climate Change and Wildlife Stewardship in the 1854 Ceded Territory, noon-1 p.m., Zoom webinar. Climate change is expected to cause shifts in the geographic ranges of many animal species, some of which have already been observed. The potential effects of these range shifts are particularly impactful to Native American communities that practice subsistence harvest of these animal species. In Northeastern Minnesota, three bands have retained their rights to hunt, fish, and gather within the boundaries outlined in the Treaty of 1854.
