Johnson, a retired Spanish and English teacher and library media specialist at Cloquet High School, will discuss find she develops characters for her stories and how her protagonists struggle with abandonment, loss of voice, and finding self as they journey to find their place in their world. Her first novel, "The Wind and the Drum," was the 2018 One Book Northland. "Born in a Red Canoe" was a finalist for the 2023 Minnesota Book Award.
